TheLighterDark is an informal musical website and personal blog for Northwest Arkansas native, William Whitfield IV. The posts here aim to converge experience and music as I document important moments in my life with albums of note serving as accompaniment. My previous publications were removed by myself in 2021 as I aimed to rebrand the website and no longer wished to have my more personal writings documented in the public domain.
My writing primarily explores my interpretation of personal experiences through the lens of media I enjoy, primarily music. I write informally and subjectively, and let music elevate these experiences. I primarily focus on music in the genres of ambient, drone, and post-rock, and you’ll find a large portion of my life has been shaped and influenced by the output of artists within these realms.
